Meet
Darwin Romero

My name is Darwin Romero, and I am a candidate to represent your voice on the County council. I look forward to earning your support to protect the quality of life we have come to enjoy and bring back economic growth and prosperity to our County. I am a single parent raising two boys that love soccer and attend Montgomery County Public Schools. I am a long-time resident…

Why I’m
Running.

Every generation has had a defining moment. And in every defining moment, there have been three options: support, idly stand-by, or resist. I believe this is our defining moment where we need to take a stand on the issues that matter most to us. We cannot afford to stay quiet because it is convenient. We cannot take things for granted because that’s how they have always been. We can no longer depend on the federal or state government to do what is right for families, children, seniors, and immigrants. This is our time to take a stand and secure the future that we want for our children and our community.

Education

Montgomery County Public Schools is the largest school district in Maryland serving over 160,000 students. The student population represents a diverse group of individuals that require our supporting services staff, teachers, and school administrators to be equally diverse and culturally proficient. Darwin firmly believes that education is an important lead indicator of the relevancy and strength of our future workforce and economic health.

Economic Growth

With over 1 million residents, a median income that is almost twice the National and a diverse and educated workforce, Darwin knows Montgomery County is a great place to do business. But to have a robust and healthy economy, we must have the right mix of investment, human capital, and infrastruc- ture. That is why Darwin will continue to market and brand Montgomery County as the hub where businesses start, grow, and thrive.

Transportation

Understanding that a first-rate, multimodal transportation system is critical to the economic growth of our County, Darwin plans to assess the current and projected traffic demands of our roads and devise a plan with the department of transportation to make the necessary updates. He will also identify bottleneck areas and accident-prone intersections and propose common-sense solutions to alleviate traffic flow.
